The first time I saw these wings, I knew there was only one explanation for them... they were real! These wings were my inspiration for the "Faerie Frolic" design.
They are made by Diane Lewis, who generously lets me offer them for sale. I asked her "How do you do it?" She explained ...
She dresses in dark clothing and paints her hands and face black, so to become one with the darkness. She grabs her velvet lined box, and in the middle of a moonless night, she heads for Deep Forest.
For miles, she feels her way along the overgrown path, a snapping twig the only betrayal of her presence. The faint reflection of starlight on water lets her know she has reached Pond. Here, she removes her shoes, to silence her footfalls the rest of the way. At the fork in the path, she heads to the west and up the hillside. When the old fallen tree blocks the trail, she knows she has arrived. Faerie Home!
She crouches in the surrounding brush and, hidden by dense junipers, begins her wait. The minutes pass, clocked only by the sound of her breaths in and out. She opens her box. She picks up and holds the small sharp scissors, the metal cool. She waits.
As the first rays of dawn scatter the shadows, her eyes catch the unmistakable sparkle of faerie wings! With a gesture fast enough to catch a fly, she grabs a tiny pair of legs and in one swift motion... snip. Off with the wings! Gently, she places her delicate reward on the velvet. She marvels at the iridescent glow, knowing that nothing in creation could be lovelier. She closes the box, and sings softly on her journey home.
Please, don't be angry. Don't e-me. Don't report me to the Doll Police. The stricken faerie brews a healing herbal faerie tea, and gets to lie around for a few days having faeriefun while she grows a new pair... lovelier still than the first! Sorry, we don't sell second pairs. First pairs only.
